A bit about us…
After having gained several years of midwifery experience in Calgary we started Honeycomb as two lone midwives in 2015. We are established practice of experienced midwives comprised of both Canadian and Internationally educated midwives. We work with a diverse population of families in Calgary and surrounding areas.
We believe that providing quality, individualized midwifery care changes lives and communities! We are strong, professional women that are making a difference one family at a time. We also recognize that that midwifery practice can be challenging and exhausting. To address this reality our philosophy is to adapt the spirit of the model of midwifery care we provide to our clients – to ourselves…
This means investing in ourselves, supporting one another, mentoring each another, creating an open and safe work environment, and to be aware of what we need as individuals, teams and our practice to maintain a meaningful work/life balance.

Location! Our clinic is centrally located in the heart of Calgary in our renovated clinic at the Arbour Birth Centre - five minutes away from Foothills Medical Centre. There is a bus stop in front of the clinic and LRT one block away. Free, easily accessible parking
CLIENTS!!! – we are not experiencing a shortage of intakes. We have plenty of repeat clients and referrals
Small, established practice – intimate team approach to care. Less competition for clients.
We foster strong relationships with one another and our clients. We recognize the importance of working alongside midwives with similar values in a supportive respectful manner. We encourage you to build the team of your dreams. We encourage midwives to build these relationships together.
Database access to clients and website access to direct client intakes.
Low practice fees, transparent invoicing, fair contract.
Dedicated back up. (Nothing worse than being at a home birth in the middle of the night not sure who is going to do back up ☹)
Mentorship. New reg year complete? It doesn’t matter. We are all learning and none of us has experienced all situations. We can all learn from each other – regardless of experience level. That being said we are happy to share our knowledge and experience.
Strong commitment to teaching MRU students.
Practice midwifery your way. We all have different styles – and strengths. If you like doing 36 week visits at home – do it! You are a contracted professional responsible for providing safe quality care your way.

Committed to offering choice of birth; we generally do a mix of in-hospital and out of hospital births.
*Generally, we have found that small teams seem to be manageable and work well for developing client relationships and maintaining a work/life balance. That being said, we are happy to support solo midwives if that is your preference.
About you:
Qualified applicants must be registered with the College of Midwives in Alberta and the Alberta Association of Midwives.
Have hospital privileges in Calgary
Must be up to date on ESW, NRP, FHS and CPR and hold a current class 5 license.
Excellent communication and conflict management skills are essential.
The applicant must be able to practice full scope midwifery.
